Ford Focuses on Debt in Frankfurt

The Frankfurt Motor Show is the premier event of its kind. Automakers from around the world showcase concept models, new technologies, and make generally exciting announcements for the world. Can you tell that we here at Freedom Ford love the event? What's not to love about a good auto show anyway, especially when Ford has nothing but good news to showcase?

Ford brought a slew of new features to the show, such as a new electric bicycle concept and Fiesta ST Concept, but the announcement we thought was most exciting had nothing to do with a specific model, but rather the state of our favorite American automaker in general. Ford specifically decided to turn the crowd's attention to their financial status, which seems to be getting better each day.

Ford isn't quite out of the red yet, but they have managed to pay off around 19.6-billion of their debt. This number alone is enough to impress us, especially when you consider the fact that they're paying off a good amount of it far ahead of schedule. "Earlier this week, we gave notice to our leaders and by the end of this week, we will have pre-paid the remaining amount of our term loan," said Lewis Booth, CFO, Ford to the interested crowd. "That's a further $1.8 billion of debt we will have paid off."1

The ultimate goal in paying off their debt as quickly as possible, of course, is to open up funds to be focused on creating more dynamic vehicles. After all, new and improved features and models are exactly what keep the dedicated Ford fan base coming back for more time and time again. Of course, these kinds of innovations are easy to find in models like the Ford F-350, Ford Flex, and Ford Fusion. If you'd like to take either of them or any other new Ford for a test drive here at 7520 N. Military Highway Norfolk, VA 23518, then make sure to either dial (888) 209-8454 or to submit a contact form to us online.
