Ford Introduces Fiesta ST Concept in Frankfurt

When we here at Freedom Ford think about the Ford Fiesta or the Ford Focus, we don't exactly picture a performance-driven powerhouse tearing up the track. Both models are efficient, dynamic, and very well designed, but race cars they are not. This, however, hasn't stopped the American automaker from revamping the Fiesta for the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Known as the Ford Fiesta ST concept, the vehicle wowed the unsuspecting crowd by proving that subcompact cars really can have a sporty edge. The new Ford Fiesta ST borrows heavily from its more performance-driven, and larger, sibling the Ford Taurus. More specifically, it makes use of new LED headlights, honeycomb grille, 17-inch wheels, and lower intakes with round fog lights in addition to a new blistered hood, hoop style rear wing, side-sills, lowered ride height and flared wheel arches. In all these additions equate to a vehicle that is every bit daring as it is efficient.

Inside Ford amped things up even more, making use of a dynamic, contrasting color scheme that compliments the new sportier dash and Recaro bucket seats quite well.

The new Ford Fiesta ST isn't all about looks, however. It's every bit as edgy under the hood as it is in its appearance. For proof of this, look no further than its impressive four-cylinder, direct-injected, turbocharged, 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine. It shells out 180 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft of torque. This allows the Ford Fiesta ST to zip from 0-60 in only seven seconds and achieve a top speed of 135 mph.

When can we get our hands on it? Ford isn't saying how close to production it is, but some are claiming that it's closer than we think. While we would love to see it on our lot at 7520 N. Military Highway Norfolk, VA 23518 as a 2013 model, we can't honestly say that anything is confirmed yet.

You can, however, learn more about the new Ford vehicles that we carry simply by contacting us online or by phone at (888) 209-8454.
