Ford Celebrates Launch of its 1st Truly Global Vehicle

It's time to celebrate. Ford is launching their all-new 2012 Ford Focus. Boasting an estimated 40 mpg, the compact will be Ford's first truly global vehicle. To meet worldwide demand, the automaker plans to make a grand total of two-million 2012 models.

Mark Ford, President, Ford of the Americas, says "The launch of the Focus couldn't come at a better time." Given the onward-and-upward direction of gas prices, we couldn't agree more.

Ford Talking Cars Coming Soon

There has probably never been a day you thought your car would be able to communicate with others. Well, that day may come soon. Ford UK is currently working on advanced WiFi and GPS systems, which will one day allow cars to communicate with other vehicles on roads. This could help warn off and prevent accidents.

Ford Motor Co. is demonstrating the technology before The Washington Auto Show. The system sends out multiple messages per second about a vehicle's location, speed, braking and steering. Ford's been working on "intelligent vehicles" for 10 years.

Pickuptrucks.com and USA Today reports Ford is working along side The Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power and Folsom Technologies. What will this team create? A "hydraulic hybrid" F-150 pickup, capable of hitting 40 miles per gallon city.
